CHRISTIAN KIELLAND GEELMUYDEN

Christian Kielland Geelmuyden BSc (Hons), MSc, Chartered (MCIPD), Chartered Psychologist (C.Psychol), Chartered Scientist (CSci)
Principal Consultant
Christian is a Chartered Psychologist, Chartered member
of the Institute of Personnel and Development and a Chartered Scientist.
He has a number of areas of interest and experience:
Organisational Audit and Evaluation
Utilising the experience gained before establishing Amundsen Consulting of auditing over 600 organisations Christian has conducted systematic programme evaluations and audits of a range of treatment service providers, community based anti-drug programmes, criminal justice related and specific initiatives within the substance misuse field, in both the private and public sectors utilising frameworks such as Quality in Alcohol and Drugs Services (QuADS), Models of Care (MoC), Commissioning Standards, Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professionals (FDAP), Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI), National Treatment Agency NTA/Healthcare Commission, Investors in People (IiP)
Occupational Health
Christian has a particular interest in the impact on workplace performance of drug and alcohol misuse and occupational stress. Having previously worked for HM Customs and Excise he has first hand experience of the difficulties in effectively implementing workplace alcohol policies and the potentially catastrophic consequences of inaction. Similarly the costs of occupational stress to both the organisation and the employee and options for effectively addressing both the causes and effects are issues in which he has a research background and extensive training experience.
Treatment Effectiveness - Outcome Monitoring
As increasingly significant resources are directed towards drug and alcohol treatment the imperative for assessing the effectiveness of treatment also increases. DATs, Commissioning Managers and individual clients alike are becoming more discerning and are requiring providers to provide robust evidence of treatment effectiveness. Addressing the question of treatment utility of the different modalities is complex and requires an understanding of the empirical evidence base, the methodologies by which valid and reliable data can be collected and interpreted, and an understanding of how service delivery can be adapted to provide the optimal conditions. Christian has extensive experience in collecting both qualitative and quantitative data (including NTA / NDTMS minimum dataset), in a range of contexts and applying statistical research methodologies to establish organisational performance.
